Man dies in cycle crash near Bay City

A 60-year old Minnesota man was killed late Saturday afternoon when he reportedly failed to negotiate a curve on 170th Avenue near Bay City.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, authorities were alerted of the accident at 4:21 p.m. Dean Michael Nelson from Elysian, MN was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

The report states that the motorcycle operated by Nelson was traveling westbound on 170th Avenue north of Hwy. 35 and failed to negotiate a curve on the roadway. The 2003 Boss motorcycle left the roadway and collided into a drainage ditch.

The accident is under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol. Alcohol use was not a factor.

The State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Red Wing Fire/EMS, the Prescott Fire Department and the Life Link III helicopter.
