ELLSWORTH POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS
March 29 12:15 a.m.
A vehicle was parked with running lights on the side of the roadway on a hill near the intersection of Crosscut Ave. and Main St. Contact was made to ensure everything was okay. The driver was requested to move due to the grade of the hill and the narrow roadway.
A complaint of vandalism was received in the 100 block of W. Grove St. Eight bulbs were observed missing from the bench area as well as damage to the light housing, writing on garbage cans and glass on the electric breaker was broken. Photographs were taken.
A black security flashlight and a blue tactical knife were found in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St.
A driver was stopped and warned for speed and no front license plate near the intersection of Main St. and Utility St.
A driver was stopped and warned for an out headlight near the intersection of Main St. and Wallace St.
March 30 3:41 a.m.
A security check was performed in the 200 block of N. Maple St. 3:49 a.m. A security check was performed in the 100 block of E. Main St. March 31 1:05 p.m.
A vehicle was unlocked in the 400 block of Highland Dr. after a vehicle was locked by a dog with children inside. 6:42 p.m. Two juvenile males were observed near a mercantile loading bay area in the 400 block of E. Wall St. Contact was made. Both subjects were found to have air soft guns on them. The father of one of the juveniles arrived and was advised of the issue.
April 1 6:28 a.m.
Contact was made with suspicious subject near the intersection of Nelson St. and S. Plum St. The subject stated he had gotten home from work and was listening to music.
A motor vehicle accident with property damage was reported in the 100 block of E. Main St. after the driver reportedly fell asleep while driving home from work. The vehicle was removed and the driver was given a ride home.
April 2 9:50 a.m.
A driver was stopped and warned for speed on 580th Ave. near 670th St.
Questions were answered in the 200 block of E. Main St. about selling birdhouses near the park.
A driver was stopped and warned for speed near the intersection of Piety St. and Ridge Rd.
An erratic driver was reported to be all over the road while heading north on Hwy. 63 near Hwy. 35. The vehicle was piled with garbage and tried to go over a bridge the wrong way. The vehicle was not located.
March 3 1:20 p.m.
A driver was stopped and warned near the intersection of Main St. and Pleasant St.
A vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed with hazards on near the intersection of Main St. and Pleasant Ave. The driver was issued a warning for speeding. 3:01 p.m.
A storage shed door was reported to have been damaged from someone trying to enter in the 100 block of W. Grove St. April 4 9:21 a.m.
A burglary was reported in the 400 block of W. Main St. Contact was made with a subject who stated that money was taken from the till and the property was damaged. 10:13 a.m.
A two-vehicle accident was reported at a drive-thru in the 100 block of W. Main St. after one driver thought the other driver was pulling away and rear ended the other vehicle. Minor damage was done to both vehicles.
A driver was stopped near the intersection of E. Main St. and S. Pond St. and warned for rapid acceleration and loud exhaust.
A barn was reported to be on fire on 490th St. No animals were in or near the barn and there weren’t other buildings close. The county was assisted.
An unwanted subject was reported in the 700 block of S. Piety St. The former resident stated they were just attempting to take their plant from the garage. They were informed if they go back on the property, they will be cited for trespassing.
